If the program
has worked previously and has suddenly stopped
working, please ensure you have rebooted your
PC as this will often restore things to normal.

If you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7 and have problems with creating a recording, please see here for instructions, otherwise continue below.

The program crashes on startup with no specific error message.
Right click the Shortcut icon and select Properties > Compatibility, then Check the 'Disable visual themes' box. Restart the application.
If the problem persists, delete the Atmosphere Deluxe directory from within C:\Program Files - or wherever you installed the application to, then re-install the application. You DO NOT need to un-install. If you need assistance with this, please contact us.
The program produces no sound.
Ensure your Windows mixer is turned up.
In some cases having other applications using audio can interfere such as You Tube videos. Please close other applications that may be running audio and restart the application.
If the problem persists, re-install and reboot.
I get a message regarding 'Error initializing capture device' when starting the recording interface.
This error indicates that the recording line is in use, or that a default recording channel is not set in Windows.
Please ensure you disable any Webcam as they may be accessing the recording line.
Follow the instructions for settings up your Windows mixer for recording here.
I get a message about Comdlg32.ocx.
Please download comdlg32.ocx and copy to your C:\Windows\system32 directory.
Click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator.
Type -
Regsvr32.exe comdlg32.ocx
You should receive a successful message.
I get an error message - Path / File access error.
The following information is relevant even if you are already logged in as an administrator as by default Windows runs applications with limited privileges, even under the administrator account.
For Vista - Right click the icon that launches the application and select the 'Run as administrator' option from the menu to start the application. You do not have to repeat the procedure below each time you run the application. You can make the change permanent by right clicking the icon that launches the application, selecting 'Properties' from the menu. Select Advanced and then 'Run as administrator', then apply.
For XP - Right click the icon that launches the application and select the 'Run as..' option from the menu, then select the administrator option. You do not have to repeat the procedure below each time you run the application. You can make the change permanent by right clicking the icon that launches the application, selecting 'Properties' from the menu. Select Advanced and then 'Run as administrator', then apply.
The program closes when I move the mouse over the icon in the system tray
Right click the shortcut icon and select Properties > compatibility . Check 'Disable visual themes'. Re-run the application.
I get a message saying 'You do not have an appropriate license to use this functionality' when attempting to run the trial version or a message related to smartsubclass.dll
Click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator.
Type -
Regsvr32.exe smartsubclass.dll and press enter.
You should receive a successful message.
If you do not receive a successful message, this indicates that the file is locked. Please restart in safe mode ( As your computer starts but before Windows launches, press F8 and select 'Safe Mode' ) then repeat the above step. Boot as normal.
I am having trouble creating a recording
of my soundscapes, can you offer any advice.

I get an
