"I am very pleased with your program. It is just what I have been looking for on the net for ages. There is nothing approaching the high quality your product offers out there. Congratulations on a highly pleasing program"

Configuring Windows For Recording

If you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7, please see here for instructions
, otherwise continue below.

If Windows is not correctly setup to record audio from applications, your recording may be -

Blank
Distorted
Too quiet
Have unwanted background noises picked up from the room

On most systems you should be able to enable the required recording device as follows:

1. Open the sound card mixer by choosing Start > Run and entering sndvol32 in the Run text box ( Fig1 ). If you clicked 'Mix' on the recording interface, the required panel should have opened for you and you can skip to Fig 2 .

If you receive an error message, you will need to download sndvol32.exe from our file download page before proceeding.

Fig 1

2. The Windows mixer will open ( Shown below ) Choose Options > Properties

3. The properties windows will show ( shown below )

Under 'Adjust Volume for', select the 'Recording' option. In the Show the Following Volume Controls section, make sure that all devices have a check mark next to them ( Fig3 ). Click OK.

4. Click Select ( enable the checkbox ) for the recording device that you want to use.

If you need to record audio from applications that play on your computer ( such as Atmosphere Lite / Deluxe, Soundmasker, Tinnitus Masker ) , you will want to select an option such as Mixed Output, Stereo Mix, What U Hear, Recording Mixer, or Wave - These are all names for the same channel ( The name of the 'all sound channel' varies depending on your soundcard )

Your sound card may have a different option, but these are the most common options that most cards have. If you do not have any of the above channels, you most likely have out of date soundcard drivers. Updating your soundcard drivers from the manufacturers site will add-in the required channel to your mixer panel.

Once you have found and enabled the 'all sound' channel by checking the 'select' box ( shown below ), record again and adjust the recording level slider as necessary.

It is possible that another application may be forcing the soundcards recording channel to the microphone channel ( voice-type applications, voice recording software ). If this is the case, please contact us and we will assist with configuration.
